Frogs and toads are one of the most important creatures for our ecosystem. They help in maintaining the balance of the ecosystem as well as maintains the food chain. But despite being good indicators of the healthy ecosystem these beautiful creatures are very less studied. These creatures are facing the risk of extinction from various anthropogenic activities. More than 20 are found in South Bengal which are also poorly studied like most of the other parts of the Country. So in view to document these lesser known species of South Bengal, Durgapur Wildlife information and Nature Guide Society and Amphibians of West Bengal have launched a programme named "Listen to the Croaks".
